Introduction

This is a fictional and philosophical book that tells a story about a man who quits his daily life and a shepherd and instead follows his dream. Since it’s a fictional book, this summary will only include some quotes that may be worth thinking about. The message this book is trying to deliver is to inspire us to live out our dreams, don’t be afraid of uncertainty, take risk and think about what we want our future to look like. The first half of the book is good and realistic but then it becomes too fictional. The ending is also good.

What’s the worlds greatest lie?”, the boy asked. “It’s this: That at a certain point in out lives we lose control of what’s happening to us, and our lives get controlled by fate. That’s the worlds greatest lie.

If you start out by promising what you don’t have yet, you’ll lose your desire to word towards getting it.

Every day was there to be lived or to mark one’s departure from this world.

When a person really desires something, all the universe conspires to help that person achieve his dream.

They were seeking the treasure of their lives without wanting to actually live out their lives. (People only want the end result but not the struggle and hard work towards getting it.

Many dies of thirst just when the palm trees has appeared on the horizon.

Everyone on earth has a treasure that awaits him. People however no longer want to go in search of it. We speak of them only to children. Later, we simply let life proceed, in its own direction, toward its own fate. But, unfortunately, very few follow the path laid out for them—the path to their destinies, and to happiness. Most people see the world as a threatening place, and, because they do, the world turns out indeed, to be threatening place.

There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear or failure.

The fear of suffering is worse then suffering itself.

Before a dream is realized, the World tests everything that was learned along the way. It does this not because it is evil, but so that we can master the lessons we’ve learned as we’ve moved toward that dream. (There will be challenges and obstacles along the way).

Everything that happens once can never happen again. But everything that happens twice will surely happen a third time.

A great and practical book on how to develop good habits and get rid of bad ones. It will explain how habits are formed and why we behave in certain ways. It will also show how practicing small positive habits every day compounds into massive results over time.

This book is not about that you should care about nothing. Instead, it talks about that you should be more selective and intentional of the things you care about.

The main message from this book is that it's not that we have a short life but that we waste a lot of it. Life is long enough and a sufficiently amount of time has been given to us for the highest achievements if it's well invested.
