Easy Egg Tart Recipe

  • Author: Niklas He
  • Total Time: 30 min
  • Yield: 12 egg tarts 1x

Description

A very easy egg tart recipe using only 5 ingredients. They don’t really taste like real egg tart you buy from a store. But they taste good enough and are very easy to make. I have used a 12 hole non-stick muffin tray here.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 dl sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 dl of water or any kind of milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pack (250 g) store bought puff pastry

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C. Take out the puff pastry from fridge and let be outside for 10 min.
  2. Crack all eggs into a bowl and whisk them well, around 30s – 60s.
  3. Add condensed milk, water or milk and vanilla extract. And then whisk again until all the ingredients are mixed well.
  4.  Pour the liquid through a sift into another bowl. Then pour it back again through the sift into the first bowl. This step is to remove excess egg white and will make the egg tarts look better. This step will not affect the flavour and can be skipped.
  5. Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into 12 equal pieces. Then form the into dough balls and roll them out. This is shown in the picture below.
  6. If desired, trim each rolled out dough with something circular to make them look better.
  7. Put the rolled out doughs into the muffin tray or single muffin forms. Then pour or use a spoon for to fill them up. They should be around 80% full which was around 0.5dl.
  8. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes.
  9. Take them out of the oven and let them rest for 10 min.
  10. Done.
